Salsa Guajillo (Guajillo Sauce)

An easy recipe for a Guajillo sauce that can be use for enchiladas, chilaquiles, broths, with meats, etc!

Ingredients
  

  • 6 guajillos cleaned (seeds & stems removed)
  • 4 roma tomatoes
  • 1 onion small, peeled
  • 2 garlic cloves peeled
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch ground cumin
  • 2 cups water

Equipment

  • Blender
  • A saucepan

Method
 

  1. Place guajillo chillies, tomatoes, onion, and garlic in a saucepan. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  2. Transfer everything to a blender. Add salt and a pinch of cumin. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour the blended sauce back into the saucepan. Cook for an additional 5 minutes so the flavors combine.
  4. Your Guajillo Sauce is ready for enchiladas, chilaquiles, pozole, or pork in chile colorado.

Notes

*Tip: If you want your salsa a bit spicy, just add some arbol chillies.
